Frequently asked questions

Which holder do I need?

Pick the holder that matches what you want to hang and your tool system:

  • Tool Holder: the tool itself (drill, impact, grinder, and so on) slides onto it in place of a battery and rests there. It does not latch on its own; add a Retention Clip to lock the tool in.
  • Battery Holder: a spare battery slides into it and latches on its own, just like it would on a tool. No extra hardware needed.

Then choose the version for your system: Milwaukee M18 or DeWalt 20V. Want a complete setup? The 4-Slot Rack Kit includes a rack, 2 tool holders, and 2 battery holders.

Will it fit my tools and batteries?

Our M18 holders fit the standard Milwaukee M18 battery interface. We've tested them with compact M18 drills, the M18 FUEL high-torque impact wrench, and both compact (CP) and extended (XC) M18 batteries. Our 20V holders fit the DeWalt 20V battery interface. If a holder doesn't fit a tool or battery from the system it's listed for, we'll exchange it or refund you. See Shipping & Returns.

What are they made of?

The holders are CNC machined from solid 6061 aluminum and finished with a black Type II anodize. The rack is 1/8" 5052 aluminum with a black powder coat. No plastic, no 3D printing.

How do they mount?

  • Holders: two #10 flat-head screws, holes spaced 2" apart. Mount them directly to a wall, shelf, bench, or vehicle, or bolt them to our rack.
  • 4-Slot Rack: mounts to the wall with 1/4" screws. Holders attach to the rack using the pre-installed #10-24 rivet nuts.

Do the holders lock the tool or battery in?

  • Battery holders: yes. Batteries latch in on their own, so they stay put even hanging upside down under a shelf.
  • Tool holders: not by themselves. The tool rests on the holder, so mount it upright. To lock a tool in for sideways, upside-down, or vehicle mounting, add a Retention Clip (Milwaukee M18 / DeWalt 20V).

Will my tool's belt clip get in the way?

It depends on how you mount the holder:

  • Holder mounted on its own (directly to a wall, shelf, or bench): the belt clip will not fit. You'll need to remove the belt clip from the tool before hanging it.
  • Holder mounted on our 4-Slot Rack: the rack has cutouts that clear the belt clip, so tools can hang with their clips still attached.

Can I mix Milwaukee and DeWalt on one rack?

Yes. The rack works with all Keepfast tool and battery holders, so you can put both systems on the same rack.

How fast do you ship, and what does it cost?

Orders ship from Burlington, Wisconsin, usually within 1–3 business days, with tracking. US shipping is free on orders of $50 or more. Details are on our Shipping & Returns page.

What if something breaks?

Every holder and rack has a lifetime warranty. If it cracks, bends, or breaks under normal use, we'll replace it.

Are you affiliated with Milwaukee or DeWalt?

No. Keepfast is an independent manufacturer and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Milwaukee Tool or DEWALT. Brand names are used only to describe which tools our products fit.
